Binary Power Plant

Geothermal Power Plant

The Enex Binary Plant uses geothermal heat to generate clean, efficient and sustainable energy.

The plant uses the ORC technology to generate electrical power up to 17 MWe in each unit, depending on the geothermal source and cooling options. The plant can generate both electricity and heat for space heating. Example of an Enex Binary Power Plant is the binary plant in Berlin

Enex offers engineering, procurement and construction of the binary power plant under an EPC contract (turnkey) or on BOO or BOT basis.

Six geothermal flash steam power plants are in operation in Iceland, generating electricity and some also provide heat, commonly named CHP (combined heat and power) plants. The first plant went into operation in 1969. These power plants use steam from geothermal reservoirs that yield temperatures up to 320 °C. More information on these Geothermal Power Plants.

The latest addition is the 100 MWe Reykjanes Geothermal Power Plant in Iceland. This is the first geothermal power plant in the world to use steam of such high temperature (290 to 320 °C) for electrical generation. Another geothermal power plant in construction is the 300 MWe Hellisheidi Geothermal Power Plant that went on-line with the first 90 MWe in October 2006.
